The band Prairie Moon won invites to
both the Cowboy
Symposium in Ruidoso, NM
and the Hatch Chili Festival
in Hatch, NM! as well as two tracks on Joe's Back Forty cd!
Texas
transplant poet from Montana, Cade Schalla also won a track on the cd.
Adding to that 12 more performers were invited to the Campfire Tales
held in conjunction with the Fort
Worth Stock Show! You
never know what will happen at this event! This year we talked Slim
Farnsworth into debuting his new poem "On Hold" based on a true
story of
a Van Horn Cowboy in a calve, flashlight in one hand, 357 in the other,
facing a wounded calf killing mountain lion when his satellite phone
rang. Great poem, based on a true story and it was heard around the
world out of the Crossroads Gathering! Slim has already
signed up for next year as well as "The Big Man" Buck Helton The
2010 schedule will proceed as follows: 9am to 4:30pm The first 22 performers to sign up will each get 20 minutes of stage time. 6pm
to 8:40pm Dinner show. Dinner at 6pm with the first 5 acts to sign up
putting on a show. Cost is $20 per ticket with proceeds going to the
Van Horn Homeless Shelter. Saturday -Feb 6th-8am to 9am "Local Mic" 9am
to 4:30pm The 23rd through 44th acts
to sign up will each get 20 minutes of stage time. 4:45pm
The 10 acts to go into the finals will be announced 7pm
to 9:30pm Finals show. The ten selected acts will each go on stage for
15 minutes. At the end of this show, the winners will be announced by
the on site reps and gatherings participating via internet will be
making their contacts on the phone or via live chat. If
you are an entertainer who is getting nowhere with the open
mics, or are regionally established and want to expand into new
territorys just sign up.
