The stage for the 2009 show isn't even cooled off and we are already in the planning stages for the 2010 show! The Culberson County 4H club will run a food booth during the day (and keep the proceeds).  This year met our wildest expectations as (thanks to Ralph's Back Porch) our entertainers were seen and heard in 13 states and 14 foreign countries. Less than a week after the show, some of this years entertainers have already begun signing up for next year!

The band Prairie Moon won invites to both the Cowboy Symposium in Ruidoso, NM and the Hatch Chili Festival in Hatch, NM! as well as two tracks on Joe's Back Forty cd! Texas transplant poet from Montana, Cade Schalla also won a track on the cd. Adding to that 12 more performers were invited to the Campfire Tales held in conjunction with the Fort Worth Stock Show!
Joe and Tamara
of Ralph's Back Porch which also provided us with a live video feed will also be back next year upstreaming both audio and video links so once again we will be seen around the world! The 2010 gathering will be held during the first weekend of February, so mark it on your calendar. Tamara had some extra help as seen to the right with Dakoa Kinford checking out the sound!

You never know what will happen at this event! This year we talked Slim Farnsworth into debuting his new poem "On Hold" based on a true story of a Van Horn Cowboy in a calve, flashlight in one hand, 357 in the other, facing a wounded calf killing mountain lion when his satellite phone rang. Great poem, based on a true story and it was heard around the world out of the Crossroads Gathering! Slim has already signed up for next year as well as "The Big Man" Buck Helton

The 2010 schedule will proceed as follows:
Friday-Feb 5th-8am to 9am "Local-mic" This session was inspired by Van Horn's own Gary Fuentes who got on stage to tell the story of his father running mustangs on the Rio Grande just south of town. If you want to hear some of the history of the area don't miss this!

9am to 4:30pm The first 22 performers to sign up will each get 20 minutes of stage time.

6pm to 8:40pm Dinner show. Dinner at 6pm with the first 5 acts to sign up putting on a show. Cost is $20 per ticket with proceeds going to the Van Horn Homeless Shelter.

Saturday -Feb 6th-8am to 9am "Local Mic"

9am to 4:30pm The 23rd through 44th acts to sign up will each get 20 minutes of stage time.

4:45pm The 10 acts to go into the finals will be announced

7pm to 9:30pm Finals show. The ten selected acts will each go on stage for 15 minutes. At the end of this show, the winners will be announced by the on site reps and gatherings participating via internet will be making their contacts on the phone or via live chat.
Once again , proceeds will be going to the  Van Horn Homeless Shelter and the Culberson County Library.
Sunday, Feb 7th- 9am to 11am Cowboy Church

If you are an entertainer who is getting nowhere with the open mics, or are regionally established and want to expand into new territorys  just sign up. If your gathering is looking for a better way to select acts, this is the best place to look!
