Crossroads
began as a way for beginning entertainers, or people looking to widen
their audience base to do so. We are set up as a talent show, and in
our second year, 22 invitations were given to five different performers
from Crossroads. We managed to break another barrier this year with two
gatherings selecting Crossroads performers over the internet. Now that
barrier has been broken, we are hoping to have more entertainers hired
for more events in 20011!
Rather than being an invitation only event, we
have gone back
to the original concept of a cowboy gathering. You hear about the party
and show up! All you have to do is be a cowboy or cowgirl entertainer
and fill out the form below. The first 42 entertainers
to sign up are in the show. Each entertainer will get a 20 minute set
in the order they sign up in on either Friday or Saturday, with the
first 6 to sign up in the extra Dinner show on Friday night. The top
ten acts, plus the two entertainer's acting as judges will perform on
the Saturday night show from which the participating gatherings will
select their acts.
In order to give entertainers a chance to make
some money we will be having a Calcutta
auction in conjunction with our mixer on Wednsday night. The money from
this auction will be split between the top five acts and their bidders,
as selected by our judges. The payback split between the entertainer
and their bidder will be 1st
place-30%, 2nd place 25%, 3rd place 20%, 4th place 15%, 5th place
10% . So that bidders know what kind of
talent
they are bidding on, each entertainer or band will perform their own
original poem/song, written especially for this event, with the title The Kamikaze Cow. This promises to
be a fun part of the gathering!
Three judges will each give up to 50 points an
act, divided
equally between material and delivery. The Judges will be Evelyn Roper,
judging
from
a
musician's
point
of
view,
Dave
P.
Fisher, judging from a
poet's point of view, and Gary Fuentes, of Van Horn, judging from a
spectator's point of view. The scores will be tallied and the top
ten put on a whiteboard for all to see as each entertainer finishes
their act. Any events participating
via internet will be immediately put in contact with the entertainers
of their choice! To sign up, simply fill out the form and you are in
the "Cowboy Correct Gathering!"
